1. The purposes of this investigation were: (a) the composition and distribution of the phalangid fauna in Michigan; (b) determination of the habitat characteristics and vegetational preferences of the constituent species; (c) study of a population of commonly-occurring species and some aspects of their natural history; (d) study of the life history of a species with widespread distribution but rather limited habitat requirements; (e) a comparison of some oaf the physiological qualities as determined in the laboratory with habitat selections as observed in the field.
