On 24 July 1982 we watched a male Northern Three-toed Woodpecker foraging on dead black spruce (Picea mariana) boles in a large swamp about two miles southwest of Hulbert Corners, Chippewa Co., Michigan. At the same location and date we observed a pair of Gray-cheeked Thrushes.
