Bird surveys conducted by the University of Michigan Biological Station's (UMBS) ornithology class from 1976-1984. Bird species, individual counts, site locations, and observation data were recorded a locations throughout Michigan's Northern Lower Peninsula and Eastern Upper Peninsula. The class lists record every bird species observed on trips throughout the region over the breeding season (mid-June through early August).
The following research sites either are not in the research site list and Bob Vande Kopple is checking for correct locations:
Aspen Bird Census Plot
PELL FLTS MAPLE R
RED SCHOOL RD
The following sites Bob Vande Kopple will be verifying this summer:
East Burt Lake Road (vs. another East Burt Lake location not in the research site list)
Riggsville Bog (vs. Riggsville Corners)
NEED TO IMPROVE METHODS.
Students papers not very helpful. Perhaps talk to Francie Cuthbert for better methods.
Who ID'd species (instructor and/or class)
Specific species targeted?
Specific habitats targeted?
Each student writing own list, then compiled into a master list?
