Forest vegetation regeneration in a 1998 controlled burn in Northern Michigan

Project Overview
Project Abstract:
Vegetation surveys were conducted around controlled burns that took place at the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) burn plots between 1995-1999. Three deer exclosure plots were established, one in 1995 and two in 1997. The 1995 plot is located to the west of the two 1997 plots, not adjacent. Each plot is fenced in to prevent deer browsing of vegetation. Each plot was surveyed for overstory level woody vegetation, ground level woody vegetation, and ground level herbaceous vegetation. In 1998, the two 1997 deer exclosure plots were burned and then resurveyed in July of 1998 and September of 1999.
