1. The Douglas Lake region is located in the northern part of the overlapping zone between the Northeastern Coniferous Forest Province and the Central Deciduous Forest Province in the extreme northern part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. 2. The former distribution of the most widely distributed plant associations is presented in a map of the region. 3. The intricate successional relationships between the plant associations which exist today are shown in six diagrams.
