Although it is realized by most people that all kinds of plants do not grow in all places on the earth, lack of knowledge about the details of distribution of any given species often leads us to take for granted as widespread those with which we happen to be familiar. So it is with skunk-cabbage, Symplocarpus foetidus (L.) Nutt., southward in the Great Lakes region.
